Real Wedding: Sarah + John, High Hampton Inn
Sarah & John were married at High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, North Carolina. From the second I met Sarah, I just knew I was going to love working with her. The happy couple exchanged their vows Mother’s Day weekend, surrounded by friends and family, in an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn of the mountain resort. The ceremony overlooked the lake and a breathtaking mountain backdrop. The reception was held in the clubhouse overlooking the golf course. The day was perfect.
Sarah gave me a fair amount of creative freedom within her color scheme of coral, white, green, with accents of cantaloupe and lemon. In order to coordinate with the bridesmaid’s coral dresses and the groomsmen’s seersucker suits and bow ties, I used coral peonies, David Austin Juliet garden roses, raspberry ranunculus, scabiosa flowers, fluffy white roses, berries, white peonies, and yellow parrot tulips (just to name a few)! To finish off the bridal bouquet, I wrapped the bouquet stems in lush ribbons hand-selected for Sarah in New York City, and added a cascading satin & velvet ribbon treatment.
I also fell in love with the centerpieces Sarah selected for the reception. Each table had a lush arrangement in a gold footed vases featuring peonies, roses, ranunculus, queen anne’s lace, tulips, feverfew, mixed greenery, and finished with blooming honeysuckle vine, and clematis vine, surrounded by candles. Sarah also requested an arrangement in memory of the groom’s mother incorporating peppermint carnations which were her favorite flower. It was such a sweet gesture to honor the memory of John’s mother. Sarah’s thoughtfulness of the guests was reflected throughout the day.
Special thank to Mark Lopez Photography for these beautiful pictures from the wedding!!
Thank you, Sarah & John, for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

Living Picture Class
Coming Up Next: the Living Picture Class. This just might be my favorite workshop of the year!! It’s coming up on Saturday, September 6, from 10 am – 12 pm. I’ll do a quick demonstration and then each participant will have the rest of the class time to design and plant a living picture to take home. The workshop will take place in my studio at the Taylors Mill (25 Mill Street, Suite 25, Taylors, SC 29687). The cost is $50 and includes all hardware, materials, and loads of succulents for you to create any design you can imagine.
To register, please sign up on the Urban Petals website here. Registration will close sooner that usual because the hardware and materials have to be special ordered. The deadline to register is August 30, 2014.
Living Pictures first captured my attention a couple of years ago and I’ve been in love with them ever since. My picture tends to be evolving, ever changing and I love tending to it! Right now it is blossoming and growing like crazy in my greenhouse.
Here are a few of my favorite living pictures:
Don’t forget to sign up for the class here. I’m looking forward to sharing my love of succulents and designs with you all and I can’t wait to see what amazing designs you come up with!
