Last week I had an amazing experience working with Holly Chapple and The Chapel Designers on a special wedding for an incredible couple, Rebekah & Pete. Rebekah & Pete were both severely injured in the Boston Marathon bombing last year. After they were engaged in October, The Knot, a popular wedding magazine and online wedding resource, decided to throw them a Dream Wedding at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.
I know you keep hearing me talk about Holly Chapple and the Chapel Designers but these people are beyond gifted when it comes to floral design. Not only that but they are kind, generous, and as I saw this week, quick to sacrifice their time, energy, and sleep to help others. I felt like a walking zombie after the wedding was over but now that I’ve had some sleep, I am stunned at what was accomplished and the beauty of what we created. I’ve been looking at the pictures all morning and reading more about the Bride & Groom and tears keep streaming down my cheeks. They were so sweet and even more beautiful in real life. Watch their story here. Warning: you will need tissues. I didn’t get to meet them but I was allowed to stand off to the side behind the camera crew and watch the wedding. It was emotional and beautiful.
If you’re familiar with the Biltmore Estate, the ceremony was held on the lawn beside the arbor and facing “the house” with the rolling hills and mountains behind it. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and it “snowed” petals the whole time. It was so romantic and totally breathtaking. For the ceremony, we designed an arch of willow, blooming branches, and hundreds of flowers. The end result was stunning!!! Each side of the aisle was lined with flower and then we covered the entire length of the aisle in lush petal carpet. Take a wild guess how many roses were used to create the carpet! Thankfully the site was covered in a clear tent because we had nice little rain shower during the ceremony. It poured for a few minutes and then stopped just minutes after the ceremony ended.
The Reception was spectacular! I won’t do it justice by trying to describe it but in keeping with the “Enchanted Garden” theme of the whole day, everything from the floral entrance to the elevated centerpieces, the linens, the gold couches, the ultra feminine pink linens, gold Chiavari chairs, the cake from Alchemy Cake in New York City, the gold rimmed china, to the floral chandelier was a gorgeous!!
Here are a few more pictures that I took throughout the week. To see professional pictures of the wedding, check out The Knot on Instagram.
A little more behind the scenes action
The wedding has already been featured on NBC, Inside Edition, and here is the sweetest video from The Knot that will make you cry so grab some tissues. It was honor to help Holly Chapple on this wedding. I was in awe watching her and the other designers knock out design after design. Each one of them is kind and I’m so thankful to call them my friends.
